La Semaine d’Héritage Acadien (du 5 au 12 octobre 2008) est une celebration du people et de la culture acadiens de la Louisiane. La culture acadienne est à la base de la culture cadienne, mais intégralement tissées dans la tapisserie acadienne-cadienne sont les cultures françaises, amérindiennes, anglaises, allemandes, irlandaises, espagnoles écossaises, québécoises et africaines.
Notre histoire, y compris la force et le courage de nos ancêtres, nous a amené où nous sommes aujourd’hui. La Semaine d’Héritage Acadien fait partie de nos efforts de bâtir et de vivre une culture qui honore le passé avec un regard vers l’avenir.
Nous travaillons pour développer et encourager les évènements à travers l’État de Louisiane qui soulignent tous les éléments de la culture acadienne, de la religion à la langue, des folkways aux traditions et à la musique et à la culture, à l’éducation et aux interrelations.
Grâce au comité fondateur de la Semaine d’Héritage Acadien, un curriculum sur l’histoire acadienne a été développé et adopté par le Conseil BESE pour inclusion dans les classes d’histoire louisianaise du 8ème grade. Voir la page de l'éducation pour accéder le curriculum. Le Comité de la Semaine d’Héritage Acadien continuera à travailler pour assurer l’enseignement du curriculum dans toutes les classes du 8ème grade.
Acadian Heritage Week is a celebration of the Acadian people and culture of Louisiana. The Acadian culture is the base of the Cajun culture, but much like a tapestry with its integrally interwoven designs, the French, Native American, English, German, Irish, Spanish, Scottish, Québécois and African cultures have become a permanent part of the Acadian - Cajun cultural picture in Louisiana.
Our history, including the great strength and courage of our ancestors, has brought us to where we are today. Acadian Heritage Week is part of our efforts to build and live a culture honoring the past and looking toward the future.
We are working to develop and encourage events throughout the State of Louisiana highlighting all of the elements of the Acadian culture, from religion to language, from folkways to traditions and music and culture, education and interrelationships.
Thanks to the founding committee of Acadian Heritage Week, a curriculum on Acadian history was developed and adopted by the BESE Board for inclusion in 8th grade Louisiana history classes. See the Education page to access the curriculum. Acadian Heritage Week committee will continue to work to assure that the curriculum is taught in all of the 8th grade classes
